Carbon Sequestration Potentials of Different Land Uses in Wondo Genet Sub-Catchment, Southern Ethiopia

Forests play an important role in combating the challenges posed by changing climate through sequestering carbon their living biomasses and soil. Tropical forests, which harbour a large number of species, are anticipated to great this regard due favourable growing environments. However, there is limited knowledge variability stock among land use types its relationship with biodiversity. Therefore, study assessed storing different pools natural forest, woodland khat plantation types. It also explored between biodiversity storage pools. Plant inventory sample collection were undertaken following standard methods. In addition, soil samples taken at three depth profile classes 0–30 cm (top layer), 30–60 (middle layer) 60–100 (bottom layer). Results revealed that was no statistically significant total biomass carbon, organic or 95% level confidence. The results indicated forest had highest plant (456.93 Mg ha−1) followed (19.78 (2.46 ha−1).
